About Rock'n Ropes Taupō
Rock'n Ropes is Taupō's outdoor adventure rope course and climbing park, set among the trees of the Wairakei Tourist Park on Karetoto Road — just a short drive from town and neighbouring Hukafalls Jet. The park offers a range of high-wire challenges designed for everyone from cautious five-year-olds to serious adrenaline junkies, all harnessed and supervised by trained staff.
Activities include a giant trapeze, high beam walk, climbing wall, giant swing, and the signature Rock Drop — a controlled free fall from height. The Max Buzz package bundles six activities progressing from easy to extreme over about 90 minutes, while the Adrenalin Combo focuses on the three most heart-pumping challenges. Individual activities like the giant swing can also be booked standalone, making it flexible for groups with mixed courage levels.
Rock'n Ropes stands out as a great complement to Taupō's water-based adventures — it is entirely land-based, works rain or shine, and requires no prior experience. The bush setting adds atmosphere, and the graduated difficulty means families can enjoy it together without anyone being pushed beyond their comfort zone. It is also one of the most affordable adventure activities in the region.
