About Kong Adventure
Kong Adventure is the Lake District's largest indoor climbing and adventure centre, purpose-built in the heart of Keswick and instantly recognisable by the giant gorilla sculpture above the entrance. Opened in 2014, the centre was designed to give visitors a world-class climbing and adventure experience regardless of weather — a significant advantage in one of England's wettest regions.
The main climbing wall features over 50 routes across a variety of angles and styles, with 12 top-rope lines for beginners and 38 lead lines for experienced climbers ranging from vertical technical walls to steep overhangs. A dedicated bouldering room offers shorter, rope-free problems at all grades. Beyond climbing, the centre houses an artificial caving system that simulates underground exploration, plus a children's adventure play area for younger visitors.
Kong Adventure fills a crucial gap in the Lake District's activity offering by providing a high-quality, all-weather venue that complements the region's outdoor pursuits. The on-site café and specialist outdoor shop make it a convenient one-stop destination, and their taster sessions and coaching programmes give complete beginners the confidence to progress to the region's famous outdoor crags.
