About Surf Sister Surf School
Surf Sister is Tofino's original women-founded surf school, established in 1999 on the wild west coast of Vancouver Island. What began as a passion project to get more women into the water has grown into one of Canada's most respected surf schools, welcoming surfers of all genders, ages, and abilities to experience the legendary breaks of Clayoquot Sound.
Their certified instructors lead group and private surf lessons at Cox Bay and Chesterman Beach, with all equipment — boards, wetsuits, boots, and gloves — included. Beyond lessons, the Campbell Street retail shop stocks a curated selection of surfboards, wetsuits, and coastal lifestyle apparel. Rentals are available for experienced surfers who want to paddle out independently, with soft tops, fiberglass boards, and winter-weight wetsuits on hand.
Surf Sister has earned features in Outside Magazine, Canadian Living, and The Globe and Mail, and is widely credited with helping establish Tofino as a world-class cold-water surf destination. Their inclusive, encouraging approach makes them a standout for first-timers and returning visitors alike.
