About Marmot Basin Ski Resort
Marmot Basin is Jasper National Park's only downhill ski resort, perched high in the Canadian Rockies with a summit elevation of 2,612 metres. Since opening in 1964, the resort has grown into one of Alberta's most beloved ski destinations, offering uncrowded slopes and panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges that define the Jasper landscape.
The resort features 91 marked runs spread across 1,720 acres of skiable terrain, with a balanced mix of beginner, intermediate, and expert trails. Terrain ranges from gentle groomers on the lower mountain to steep chutes and powder bowls at the summit. Marmot Basin also operates a full rental shop at the base lodge offering ski and snowboard packages, helmets, and accessories for all ages and ability levels.
What sets Marmot Basin apart from other Canadian Rockies resorts is its remarkably short lift lines and laid-back atmosphere — a sharp contrast to the crowded mega-resorts further south. The resort receives an average of nine metres of annual snowfall and boasts the longest ski season in the Alberta Rockies. Its location inside a UNESCO World Heritage Site makes every run feel like a wilderness experience.
