About DIVE.IS
DIVE.IS, formally known as the Sport Diving School of Iceland, is the country's oldest and most established scuba diving and snorkelling operator, specialising in the world-famous Silfra fissure in Thingvellir National Park. Located in Reykjavik's Old Harbour area, DIVE.IS has been introducing travellers to Iceland's extraordinary underwater world since the early 1990s and holds an unrivalled depth of experience in cold-water diving operations. Silfra — a crack between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates — offers visibility exceeding 100 metres, making it one of the clearest freshwater dive sites on Earth.
Their Silfra programme includes both snorkelling tours in drysuits and full scuba diving experiences for certified divers, with multiple departures daily throughout the year. Beyond Silfra, DIVE.IS runs dive trips to David's Fountain (a geothermal spring with 60-degree water mixing with glacial melt), Strytan hydrothermal chimney in Eyjafjordur, and seasonal kelp forest dives. They offer the full range of PADI certifications from Open Water through Drysuit Specialty, with all training conducted in Iceland's unique freshwater and ocean environments.
DIVE.IS stands out for its rigorous safety standards and investment in premium equipment — every guest receives a properly fitted drysuit, thermal undersuit, hood, and gloves designed for Iceland's near-freezing water temperatures. Their guides are among the most experienced cold-water diving professionals in the world, many with thousands of Silfra dives logged. For anyone visiting Iceland, a Silfra snorkel or dive with DIVE.IS is consistently rated among the top experiences in the country.
