About Bull River Adventures
Bull River Adventures is a backcountry outfitting operation located on the banks of the Bull River in the East Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia, approximately 60 kilometres from Fernie and 80 kilometres from Cranbrook. The lodge and ranch serve as a base camp for horseback riding, guided fly fishing, hiking, and multi-day wilderness expeditions through some of the most spectacular and uncrowded mountain scenery in the Canadian Rockies.
Summer horseback adventures range from half-day trail rides through river valleys and forest to multi-day pack trips that cross alpine meadows and mountain passes, with overnight camping at remote backcountry sites. The lodge sits directly on the Bull River, offering over 50 kilometres of premium fly fishing access for westslope cutthroat trout and bull trout on both the main river and its tributaries. Guided hiking trips, wilderness skills courses, and corporate retreats round out the activity roster, with backcountry cabin rentals available for guests who prefer a self-guided experience.
Bull River Adventures distinguishes itself through its genuinely remote setting and multi-day expedition capability. Unlike resort-style trail rides, the pack trips here venture deep into roadless backcountry where wildlife sightings — elk, moose, bears, and eagles — are common and other humans are rare. The combination of horseback access, world-class fly fishing, and comfortable lodge or cabin accommodation makes it one of the Kootenays' most complete wilderness outfitting operations.
