About Skydive Byron Bay
Skydive Byron Bay operates tandem skydiving experiences from Tyagarah Airfield, a small coastal aerodrome just north of Byron Bay township. Part of the Skydive Australia group — the country's largest and most experienced skydiving operator — the Byron Bay drop zone is consistently ranked among the most scenic in the world, with jumpers freefalling directly over Australia's most easterly point, Cape Byron, with panoramic views stretching from the Gold Coast hinterland to the blue expanse of the Pacific Ocean.
Jumps are offered from three altitude options — 10,000, 12,000, and 15,000 feet — with freefall speeds reaching over 200 kilometres per hour before the parachute deploys. The 15,000-foot jump delivers up to 60 seconds of freefall followed by a five-to-seven-minute canopy ride down to the beach landing zone. Every jump is tandem, meaning no prior experience is required — guests are harnessed to an Australian Parachute Federation–certified instructor who handles all technical aspects. Professional photo and video packages capture the entire experience from aircraft exit to landing.
What makes Byron Bay one of Australia's premier skydive destinations is the combination of reliable coastal weather, the stunning headland-and-beach geography visible from altitude, and the relaxed beach-town atmosphere waiting on the ground. The operation runs year-round with multiple flights daily, and the beachside landing area adds a dramatic finishing touch. For adrenaline seekers visiting the Northern Rivers, this is the headline experience — and Skydive Australia's safety record and operational scale give first-timers confidence to take the leap.
