About Rowdy Bear Mountain
Rowdy Bear Mountain is one of the newest and most thrilling adventure parks in the Gatlinburg corridor, featuring a collection of gravity-defying attractions perched on the mountainside above downtown. Their showpiece is the Rowdy Bear Mountain Coaster — an alpine coaster that sends riders on a 3,200-foot downhill run through the forest canopy with speeds up to 35 mph, controlled by individual hand brakes so each rider sets their own pace. The ride operates year-round, rain or shine, with LED lighting for evening runs that create an entirely different experience after dark.
Beyond the mountain coaster, Rowdy Bear's mountaintop campus features a panoramic suspension bridge spanning over 680 feet across a deep mountain valley, offering unobstructed views of the Smoky Mountain skyline. The Freestyle Falls attraction adds a free-fall drop tower experience, and their gem mining station lets families pan for gemstones and fossils as a cool-down activity between thrill rides. The facility also includes a snack bar, gift shop, and observation deck at the summit, making it easy to spend half a day on the mountain.
Rowdy Bear Mountain appeals to families and thrill-seekers who want outdoor adventure that doesn't require any prior experience or special fitness level. The mountain coaster accommodates riders as young as three (with an adult), the suspension bridge has no age minimum, and every attraction is designed to deliver big views and adrenaline in a safe, well-managed environment. Located on Parkway just south of downtown Gatlinburg, it's an easy walk or trolley ride from most hotels and cabins, making it one of the most convenient adrenaline stops in the Smokies.
