Rental Shop Yoshi is a locally owned ski and snowboard rental operation in Niseko Hirafu, founded in 2004 by Yoshihito Tanaka, a former professional mogul skier. With two branches in the Hirafu area — the main shop and a second location at Cross Road Niseko — Yoshi provides convenient access to quality rental gear for visitors staying throughout the village.
The shop specialises in powder-specific equipment perfectly suited to Niseko's legendary dry snowfall, including fat skis, powder boards, and backcountry setups alongside standard all-mountain packages. Accessory rentals cover helmets, goggles, and gloves for those travelling light. Yoshi also offers private ski and snowboard lessons, hot waxing and storage waxing services, and a complimentary pickup and drop-off shuttle from Hirafu accommodations. In summer, the shop pivots to mountain bike rentals.
The owner's competitive skiing background translates into equipment knowledge that casual rental shops can't match. Tanaka and his team personally fit each customer, recommending flex patterns and ski profiles based on ability and the day's conditions.
