About Extreme Control Adventures
Extreme Control Adventures is Tulum's original kiteboarding school, operating since 2004 with IKO-certified instructors and a reputation that has earned it the number-one ranking on TripAdvisor's Things to Do in Tulum list. The shop runs out of the La Veleta neighbourhood in town and operates beach and lagoon sessions at prime wind spots along the coast and at El Cuyo on the north shore.
Beyond kitesurfing, the company offers stand-up paddleboard tours and snorkelling at Casa Cenote and Kaan Luum Lagoon, scuba diving with PADI certifications, hydrofoil lessons, and equipment rentals for kiteboards, paddleboards, surfboards, and snorkel gear. Their SUP and snorkel experiences combine paddling on turquoise Caribbean water with underwater exploration of the reef, all with transport included from Tulum, Soliman Bay, or Tankah.
Extreme Control's distinguishing feature is their Short Line Method with radio helmets for kiteboarding instruction — a teaching technique that lets the instructor communicate in real time while the student is on the water, dramatically accelerating the learning curve. With over twenty years in the area, the guides know every wind window and current, making this the most experienced watersports school on Tulum's coastline.
