About Cham Aventure
Cham Aventure is the outdoor activities arm of the renowned Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix, operating from the historic Maison de la Montagne on Place de l'Église in the heart of Chamonix. The Compagnie des Guides, founded in 1821, is the oldest mountain guide company in the world, and Cham Aventure channels that heritage into accessible, professionally supervised adventure experiences for visitors of all ages and abilities. With three operational bases in Chamonix, Argentière, and Les Houches, they cover the full length of the Mont Blanc valley.
The activity menu spans both water and land. Summer highlights include whitewater rafting on the Arve River, hydrospeed (river bodyboarding) through Class III rapids, canyoning descents in the alpine gorges, and guided mountain biking on the valley's extensive trail network. On drier ground, via ferrata routes, paragliding tandem flights, and family-friendly adventure courses keep adrenaline levels high. Winter offerings include snowshoeing treks through the forests above Les Houches, ice climbing initiation courses on frozen waterfalls, and backcountry skiing with certified guides.
Cham Aventure's unique advantage is the backing of the Compagnie des Guides — arguably the most respected guiding institution in the Alps. Every guide and instructor meets rigorous qualification standards, and the safety protocols are refined by two centuries of mountain experience. The central booking office in the Maison de la Montagne makes it easy to walk in, browse the menu, and book an adventure on the spot. For visitors who want the security of a world-class guiding organisation combined with the thrill of Chamonix's legendary terrain, Cham Aventure delivers on both fronts.
