About British Alpine Ski School Chamonix
The British Alpine Ski School — known locally as BASS — is one of Chamonix's longest-running independent ski schools, delivering personalised instruction across the valley since 2005. Founded by a team of fully qualified British instructors who fell in love with the Mont Blanc massif, BASS now operates across all five Chamonix ski areas: Les Houches, Brévent, Flégère, Grands Montets, and Le Tour. Their office base operates from the valley, with instructors meeting clients slope-side at each area.
BASS specialises in private lessons for individuals, couples, and families, covering everything from first-timer foundations to advanced off-piste technique and mogul mastery. Lessons run in two-hour, three-hour, and full-day formats, with multi-day packages available for week-long visitors. Their instructors hold BASI, ISIA, or equivalent European qualifications, and the school's focus on small-group or one-to-one tuition means each session is tailored to the client's goals and ability.
What sets BASS apart in Chamonix's crowded ski school market is the combination of native English instruction, deep local knowledge, and a genuinely personal approach. Clients regularly return year after year and request the same instructor, and the school's consistently high ratings on TripAdvisor and Google reflect two decades of quality coaching in one of the Alps' most challenging ski domains.
