About Bikeacademy Kitzbüheler Alpen
Bikeacademy Kitzbüheler Alpen holds the distinction of being the first mountain bike school in the Alps, founded in 1999 by Kurt Exenberger in St. Johann in Tirol. As an official training centre of the Austrian Cycling Association, they've set the standard for professional MTB instruction across the Kitzbühel Alps region, combining decades of trail knowledge with structured coaching methodologies that cater to every ability level.
Their programme spans guided MTB tours graded from Family Rider through Endurance Rider, e-bike trail tours for those who want assisted climbing, professional riding technique training, private one-on-one coaching, weekly skills camps, and multi-day bike holidays. Corporate groups and incentive events are a specialty, with custom-designed itineraries that use the extensive Kitzbühel Alps trail network as a backdrop for team-building activities. The season runs from mid-April through November.
What sets Bikeacademy apart is the depth of instructional expertise — this isn't a rental shop that added guided rides as an afterthought. Every guide holds Austrian Cycling Association or equivalent certifications, and the progressive skill-level system ensures that beginners aren't thrown onto trails beyond their ability while advanced riders are genuinely challenged. For visiting mountain bikers who want to maximise their time on unfamiliar Tyrolean terrain, having a local expert decode the trail network is invaluable.
