About Thredbo Valley Horse Riding
Thredbo Valley Horse Riding has been offering guided horseback adventures through the Snowy Mountains since 1993, operating from their base at Pender Lea on the Alpine Way in Crackenback. Nestled at the foot of the Crackenback Range just minutes from Thredbo Village, the property provides direct access to some of the most spectacular riding country in Kosciuszko National Park.
Trail rides range from one-hour introductory sessions to half-day adventures, with private rides available for couples or small groups seeking a more exclusive experience. Every ride begins with a 15-minute safety briefing and introductory lesson, making the experience accessible to complete beginners while still engaging for experienced riders. The trails wind through fern-filled gullies, along steep wooded ridges, across cool alpine streams, and into open mountain meadows with panoramic views of the Snowy Mountains.
What sets Thredbo Valley Horse Riding apart is the intimate, family-run nature of the operation and the quality of the horses — well-trained, sure-footed mountain horses suited to the terrain. With over three decades of guiding in the valley, the team brings a deep connection to the landscape and its history, turning each ride into a genuine outback experience rather than a tourist conveyor belt.
