About Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours
Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours is Canmore's original dog sledding company, family-owned and operated since 1983. Founded by Connie and Charles Arsenault, the business is now run by the second generation and operates out of a downtown Canmore office on 10th Street. With over four decades of mushing experience in the Canadian Rockies, Snowy Owl has become one of the most recognised adventure tour operators in the Bow Valley.
Winter tours run from December through April and take guests through the pristine Spray Lakes corridor in Kananaskis Country. Options range from one-hour express runs to longer half-day excursions, with guests given the chance to help harness the Alaskan and Siberian Huskies before setting off across frozen lakes and forested trails. In summer, the kennel opens for walking tours where visitors can meet the dogs and learn about the history and training behind competitive sled dog racing.
What sets Snowy Owl apart is the depth of their connection to the sport and the dogs themselves. The Arsenault family has competed in races across North America, and every tour is led by experienced mushers who share that passion with guests. The intimate group sizes, stunning backcountry scenery, and genuine family atmosphere have earned Snowy Owl a consistent five-star reputation on review platforms.
