About Scuba IQ
Scuba IQ is a family-owned dive operator based in Port Douglas that has been running private and small-group Great Barrier Reef experiences since 2016. In 2023, they became the first dive operator in Australia and New Zealand to earn PADI Eco-Center status, recognising their commitment to sustainable reef tourism practices and marine conservation education.
Their core product is private and semi-private guided diving on the outer Great Barrier Reef, departing daily from Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina. Unlike the larger reef cruise operators, Scuba IQ keeps group sizes deliberately small — typically six to twelve guests — with an emphasis on personalised attention and unhurried reef time. They offer certified diving trips, introductory dives for beginners, PADI certification courses from Open Water through to Divemaster, and dedicated coral reef education programs.
What makes Scuba IQ stand out is their boutique, high-touch approach in a market dominated by large-vessel operators. Their expert guides tailor each trip to the group's experience level and interests, whether that means seeking out macro photography subjects, exploring deeper wall dives, or simply ensuring a relaxed first-time diving experience. The PADI Eco-Center certification adds a conservation dimension, with guides actively educating guests about reef health and sustainable diving practices.
