About Saltwater Dreaming Surf School
Saltwater Dreaming is Phuket's longest-running surf school, established in 2001 on the west coast near Surin and Bang Tao beaches. Accredited by the National Surfing & Sea Sports Industry Association (NSSIA), the school is run by a team of passionate surfers who have spent over two decades teaching visitors of all ages and abilities how to catch their first waves in the warm Andaman Sea. Their shopfront near Bang Tao Beach doubles as a fully stocked surf shop and board rental outlet.
Lessons are available for complete beginners through to intermediate surfers, with instruction covering ocean safety, wave reading, pop-up technique, and etiquette. Depending on daily surf conditions, lessons may take place at Bang Tao Beach, Surin Beach, Kata Beach, or other west-coast breaks — the instructors choose whichever spot offers the best learning conditions on the day. The shop also rents surfboards, bodyboards, stand-up paddleboards, and skimboards by the hour or day, with a huge selection of over 60 boards in various sizes.

The team knows every break on the island, the seasonal swell patterns, and exactly which board to match with each student's size and skill level.
