About Mammoth Mountain Bike Park
Mammoth Mountain Bike Park transforms one of California's most iconic ski resorts into a world-class downhill mountain biking destination every summer, using the same chairlifts that carry skiers in winter to shuttle riders and their bikes to the 11,053-foot summit. From there, an extensive network of purpose-built trails descends through volcanic terrain, alpine meadows, and dense pine forests, offering everything from gentle beginner flow trails to expert-only rock gardens and drops that attract professional riders from around the world.
The bike park rental operation is comprehensive, with a fleet of full-suspension downhill and trail bikes available at the main lodge. Bikes are fitted with appropriate suspension travel and tire setups for the park's specific terrain — chunky pumice soil, exposed roots, and volcanic rock features that are unique to Mammoth's geology. Full-face helmets, body armour, and knee pads are available for rent alongside the bikes, and the fitting staff will set up suspension sag and rebound based on your weight and riding style. For riders who bring their own bikes, the park offers standalone lift tickets and armour rentals.
Skills clinics and private lessons run throughout the summer season, taught by certified instructors who break down cornering, braking, body position, and jump technique in a progressive curriculum. The women's-specific clinics have been particularly popular, creating a welcoming environment for female riders to build confidence on increasingly technical terrain. With over 80 miles of trails ranging from green to double-black, a scenic gondola ride to the summit, and easy access to the town of Mammoth Lakes for après riding, this is one of the premier lift-accessed bike parks in North America.
