About Lakota Guides
Lakota Guides is Vail's go-to outfitter for whitewater rafting, fly fishing, and zipline adventures in the Eagle River Valley. Operating since 1983, they run some of the most scenic river stretches in central Colorado, from the family-friendly Class II sections near Vail to the pulse-quickening Class IV rapids of the Upper Eagle and Colorado rivers. Every raft trip includes all gear, wetsuits when water temperatures demand them, and experienced guides who balance thrills with safety.
The fly fishing program pairs guests with licensed guides who know the Gold Medal waters of the Eagle and Colorado rivers intimately. Half-day and full-day wade trips and float trips are available, with all rods, reels, waders, and flies provided. Guides tailor the experience to skill level, from complete beginners learning to cast to seasoned anglers hunting for trophy trout in technical water. The zipline course adds a different kind of adrenaline, with multiple lines strung across a mountain valley and suspension bridges connecting the platforms.
Lakota Guides also runs stand-up paddleboard tours on the calmer sections of the Eagle River and Piney River, as well as guided hiking and snowshoe excursions in winter. Their meeting point in Vail village makes logistics simple — guests park once and are shuttled to the day's activity. With over four decades of guiding experience and deep roots in the local community, Lakota Guides delivers consistently high-quality outdoor experiences in one of Colorado's most iconic mountain towns.
