About Acadia Stand Up Paddle & E-Bike
Acadia Stand Up Paddle & E-Bike has been Acadia National Park's original stand-up paddleboard outfitter since 2011, setting the gold standard for SUP tours, lessons, and rentals on Mount Desert Island. In 2025 they consolidated operations into their Sand Beach Outfitters retail store at 113 Main Street in Bar Harbor, creating a central hub where visitors can book paddle tours, rent e-bikes, and shop for gear all in one location. Their expansion into e-biking has added a second dimension to their adventure offerings, with fat-tire e-bikes purpose-built for Acadia's historic carriage roads.
SUP offerings include guided tours on the calm waters of Long Pond and Echo Lake — sheltered freshwater spots ideal for beginners — as well as more adventurous ocean paddles in Frenchman Bay for experienced boarders. Lessons cover basic technique, safety, and self-rescue skills, and all rentals include boards, paddles, PFDs, and on-water instruction. The e-bike program features guided rides along Acadia's 45-mile carriage road network, with stops at Jordan Pond, Eagle Lake, and Bubble Rock — terrain that's perfect for electric-assist exploration without the sweat of a traditional bike climb.
What makes Acadia SUP stand out is their dual-sport approach and deep roots in the Bar Harbor adventure community. As the first dedicated SUP operator in Acadia, they pioneered paddle routes that other companies now imitate, and their guides know every launch point, wind pattern, and hidden cove on the island. The Sand Beach Outfitters storefront also stocks a curated selection of paddleboards, surf gear, and active apparel, making it a destination beyond just rentals. For visitors who want to combine water and trail adventures in a single day, Acadia SUP is the obvious choice.
